After living in South Carolina for two years, my wife and I recently moved back to Alabama, where I have spent most of my life.
I am usually reading a couple of books and listening to audio books on my iPod.Note: I will not be able to update this site for several months (long story). I'll add new entries to my blog from time to time, though. Posted August 19, 2007.
WRITING
I'm still in the early stages of my writing career. I've had a little success and hope to have several more stories published soon.
My fiction credits include:"Momma's Collection" - to be published Fall 2007 in The Petigru Review, the new anthology of the South Carolina Writers Workshop;
"Unearthed" - Catfish Stew, 2006 Edition, the annual anthology of the South Carolina Writers Workshop (the short version of "Unearthed," the first part of the full story, was published; I have submitted the complete version to a prospective publisher);
"I Walk Alone" - Catfish Stew, 2006 Edition;
"Aftermath of Fury" - honorable mention, 2005 Writer's Digest Annual Competition;
"This Message Contains Attachments" - S.C.Beginnings Magazine, Winter 2002.How did I get started writing? Good question. I'm glad you asked. If you're halfway interested, click here.
I've posted three stories on this site. If you get a chance to read any of them please send me an email and let me know what you think.
Family Privilege - What would happen if the family of a crime victim was given the opportunity to help determine the criminal's punishment?
Nevermore - A detective investigates a young woman's disappearance. Yes, Edgar Allen Poe is mentioned.
An Alternate Source of Income - A recent high school graduate finds a way to make money that doesn't involve physical labor or military service.
All stories are copyright 2004 - 2007.Here's a link to my blog dealing with writing.
Some of my favorite authors:
I've heard people say they won't read Stephen King because they don't like horror books. Understood. But if you enjoyed watching The Green Mile, Stand By Me, or The Shawshank Redemption, I'll give you one guess who wrote them.
Mr. King turns 60 years old on September 21. Happy Birthday, Stephen!Tess Gerritsen - Tess writes excellent medical thrillers and mysteries. She also has a great blog on her site. It's updated every few days and she lets you see that a New York Times bestseller can have the same concerns and fears as a newbie writer.
J.R.R. Tolkien - When I saw The Lord of the Rings - The Fellowship of the Ring, I had never read the books and didn't have a clue as to the plot. Since that time, I've read the trilogy twice as well as other works by Tolkien.
WEB DESIGNI've built several web sites with MicroSoft FrontPage, including this one.
If you've thought about getting a web site and would like to see what it would take to get one posted without spending an arm and a leg, send me an email.
A site with text and a few pictures wouldn't be as expensive as you might think.
